Package Sustainably
with Sugarcane
To make the Future Friendly range from plant-based materials, Huhtamaki TP reclaims vast quantities of sugarcane pulp, also known as bagasse. Bagasse is a sugar production by-product. Once the sugarcane’s juice is squeezed out, the tough, fibrous pulp remains. Because it’s a by-product, bagasse is frequently discarded. However, Huhtamaki TP reclaims sugarcane bagasse and uses it to make Future Friendly plates, bowls, trays, hamburger clamshells and more.
Packaging sustainably with sugarcane products allows your foodservice businesses to:
- Reduce your reliance on non-renewable materials
- Reduce your environmental footprint. Sugarcane grows so fast – compared to trees – it’s classified as rapidly renewable
- Increase your reliance on a resource that’s a reclaimed by-product. Sugarcane bagasse is a by-product that can be utilised as a raw material or as an energy source.
